Private Practice Dietitians Information

The CDE network:

ADSA dietitians are invited to participate as contracted providers for the new Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology (CDE) referral network to service certain CDE patients with diabetes mellitus.

This is a wonderful opportunity for PPDs to be involved in diabetes management and education on a larger scale, as this new national reimbursement model is set to target a wider group of CDE patients who could not previously afford private health care. By being a part of this exclusive referral network between the CDE and ADSA, as an ADSA member you will be able to grow your practice as this model roles out

This agreement is only in place between the CDE and ADSA dietitians, and only covers diabetes related services provided to CDE patients who are members of the new national reimbursement model introduced by the CDE.

This agreement does not apply when a dietitian consults a patient who is a member of the original fully capitated CDE reimbursement model.  Dietitians wishing to participate in the referral network will have to comply with certain regulations laid out and discussed between ADSA and CDE, and stipulated in the signed agreement between the dietitian and CDE. The standard procedures, reimbursement rates and models are also included in this agreement document.

All dietitians interested in taking part in the new CDE dietitian network needs to complete the attached agreement and send to Lee-Ann at the CDE lee-ann@cdecentre.co.za

There is a short online course which is required to be completed within 6 months of signing the contract. The online course is available and should be completed within 6 months of registering. The CDE will be making referrals to those who have registered and completed the course, and will be sending out regular communication.
