THE EVENT OF THE YEAR THAT YOU CANNOT, AND DARE NOT, MISS!
More information:
Nutrition Congress 2006 - This event with its theme of "Surfing for Knowledge" is being held in Port Elizabeth from 24 - 27 September 2006. By attending the congress, you will extend your knowledge and skills, and be in a position to take advantage of numerous networking opportunities. (It is expected that 24 CPD points will be allocated to the congress.) International speakers at the congress include:
- Ruth de Busk, PhD, RD - A geneticist and registered dietician (US), a former genetics professor at Florida State University, she is now in private practice specialising in using nutrition to improve and prevent disease relating to diet-responsive genes.
- Rosalind Gibson - Research Professor in Human Nutrition at the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand specialising in Micro-nutrient Nutrition.
- Yael Joffe - Nutrigenomics specialist at Sciona Inc, Boulder, Colorado, USA. She is also involved with the University of Cape Town and University of Stellenbosch.
- Arthur Owehand - Research & Development group leader of the microbiota research group at Danisco Innovation, Health and Nutrition, in Kantvik (Finland). He is also Associate Professor at the Functional Foods Forum of the University of Turku. His research focuses on the interactions between probiotics, and other functional food ingredients, and the gastrointestinal mucosa and microbiota.
This congress is an amazing boost for the Eastern Cape as it is a poor region of our country and is also poor in nutrition knowledge. The aim of the congress organising committee is to help the decision makers, management and the community to realise the importance of sound scientific knowledge and ongoing research concerning good nutrition. Community outreaches are planned to coincide with the congress. Please note that early registration closes 30 June 2006.
