Michelle McDermott


I qualified as a Dietician in 2008 from the University of Pretoria. On completion of community service I stayed in the public setting and developed a special interest in hospital-based dietetics.

I currently work in the private sector on the East Rand in Johannesburg. I am passionate about food and nutrition and, in addition to being a Registered Dietitian, I offer practical cooking advice to patients as a Professional Qualified Chef. I developed DietScience as a practice brand to emphasise the science base in all the practical nutritional education given. I have a special interest in nutritional management of surgery and oncology patients. I am married and have one little boy and when I’m not working I enjoy running and traveling.
