Esmarie Van Tonder

Esmarie Van Tonder obtained both her BSc Dietetics degree and Masters Degree in Nutrition through the University of Stellenbosch. She started her career as a Clinical Dietitian in England in 2001, where she gained extensive experience in various fields of Clinical Nutrition, and eventually became a Specialist Cystic Fibrosis Dietitian at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

After ten years’ experience in the UK, she followed her dream and returned to South Africa at the end of 2011 to make a positive contribution to dietetics in South Africa. 

She acted as Chief Dietitian at PE Provincial Hospital until August this year, but has pursued a new career as a Dietetics Lecturer at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University from September, where she will be involved in student education, research and administrative management.
